Module 1
Accessing Data
Power BI Desktop, the companion application to Power BI online. Students will connect to the most popular data repository, Microsoft Excel, SQL Server Analysis Services Cubes and, Dynamics 365 allowing organisations to use Power BI’s advanced visualisations instead of relying on Excel charting
Module 2
Building Data Models
Concepts of data modelling, building on existing data warehouse implementations to create a custom data model inside Power BI, allowing the rapid development and deployment of advanced analytics for everyone
Module 3
Creating Visuals
We will use our newly created Power BI model to create stunning highly interactive report pages, using nearly all of the visualisations available within Power BI. We will even look at importing other visualisations from the Microsoft marketplace
Module 4
Introduction to DAX
Introducing the DAX language, a language that allows the creation of advanced analytics, whilst remaining accessible to anyone with a basic knowledge of Excel formulas. We will take a look at the most widely used DAX formulas such as SUM and Calculate to create new measures within our Power BI report pages
Module 5
Publishing and Dashboards
Here we will look at publishing reports to Power BI online and creating organisational content packs to share these reports through the organisation. Elements of multiple reports published to Power BI online can be brought together into dashboards, allowing insights across multiple business areas whist keeping the underlying models and reports properly focused. Here we will see how we can create dashboards using Power BI content, and enrich them with content from the web and other sources

Q&A and Best Practice
Natural language query has long been the dream of BI – here we see how it can be achieved using Power BI’s Q&A feature on our dashboards. We will see how it works and how it can be used
